Adele Simmons
Co-Writer

Having eschewed producing, directing, assistant directing and screenwriting in 2004, Adele Simmons now lives and writes in a green, piney suburb of Los Angeles. The Death of Saints, a long-delayed novel set in 1912 New York, is the work in progress.
A few thoughts in no particular order: Stanley Kramer was a hero, Cate Blanchett is a genius and I’ve never seen a bad Sidney Poitier performance.
Twenty years of standing next to a camera in Hollywood has been a remarkable education in film craft. I am very grateful.
The black & white cinematography in Richard Brooks’ In Cold Blood is the linear descendant of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and likely not to be seen again. Who can afford that kind of labor intensive artistry anymore? Besides, when was the last time you met an electrician who actually knows how to trim an arc? Ah yes, the days of HMIs are upon us.
Nothing I learned acquiring a university bachelor’s degree in film production was in any practical manner later helpful.
Noir is good. Life is fair.
Movies are the stuff of dreams. Movie making is the stuff of champions.
Amongst the projects Adele has worked on are: Scrooged (Paramount feature), Beverly Hills Cop 2 (Paramount feature), No Way Out (Orion feature), Hill Street Blues (CBS TV series), Dynasty (NBC TV series), Knight Rider (NBC TV series), Star Trek: Voyager & Star Trek: The Next Generation (UPN TV series) and Angel (Warner Bros. TV series).
